Safe Zone

The GLBTQ Center at RIT called for entries by design students on campus to create a new logo for their Safe Zone program. Safe Zone is about promoting awareness, feelings of acceptances, and security on campus. I submitted this logo for the center along with some examples of how the new logo could be used, and a brochure for the center.

I decided to keep the rainbow colors, so it would easily recognizable by students who weren't familiar with the GBLTQ acronym, such as the international students on campus. In an interview, a volunteer at the center said she was tired of the traditional rainbow, so I made the colors brighter and decided to make the shapes look like interlocking pieces coming together. I made the arrows on the corners of the logo represent the change moving out across campus.
